The highly anticipated match between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, was, as predicted, a war, and now in two weeks, boxing fans were rewarded by having two fantastic fights.
Normally, you don’t get that much action in a southpaw v. southpaw bout, but we did and more, on Saturday night, a close, hard-fought split-decision to Pac Man.

The rematch was exciting, and well worth the wait since their last fight four years ago, in May 2004. When it came to an end, we all had seen another terrific fight.

Don Kings fight card in Cancun last weekend had a few surprises, one of which was not the 6th round KO of Oleg Maskaev by Samuel Peter. While Peter should be congratulated for his effort, anyone who expected this fight to go the distance has a few to many. Not going the distance was the best bet with these two heavy punchers with questionable chins.
What was a surprise was Nate Campbell easily beating Juan Diaz and claiming his belt. Campbell can fight, but most folks, myself included, thought Diaz, although splitting with King, was still the better fighter. I was wrong on this night.***
Now for the second best fight (which may find a way to supplant Vasquez – Marquez as the early front-runner for fight of the year).

This past weekend proved to be another exciting and unpredictable weekend in boxing, as I personally picked two of the top three fights correctly. However, I was dead wrong with Nate Campbell’s upset split decision win over previously unbeaten Juan “The Baby Bull” Diaz.
