With the recent passing of top rated heavyweight Earnie Shavers on September 1, 2022, the day after his 78th birthday, I am sharing an article that my good friend Jim Amato (R.I.P.) wrote on Shavers which was published on February 11, 2009 on www.dmboxing.com 다운로드. It was to be the last time the incomparable Muhammad Ali would ever successfully defend the heavyweight championship 맥북 엑셀 2010. It would be held in boxing’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. Andy Ruiz Jr. by Decision over Luis Ortiz

By Tom Donelson (BWAA) Member Boxing Writers Association of America

The real surprise of the Ruiz-Ortiz fight was that it went the distance Select2 download. At the age of the 43 years, Luis Ortiz still can box and had power to win a bout with one punch. Ruiz for a heavyweight has quick hands and power.

This bout was interesting since many rounds were close and without the three knockdowns, this fight could have been a majority draw according to official scorecard 피고인 1회 다운로드. (I had the fight 115-110 as Ruiz had a 10-7 second round as he sent Ortiz down twice and a 10-8 round in the seventh round.)

The first round was more of a feeling process and what punches of note landed; Ortiz landed it 다운로드. Second round was different as Ruiz sent Ortiz down twice with quick right hands. Ruiz on my card won the next two rounds but they were close.

The fifth round and sixth round were devoid of heavy action, and you could have given them to Ortiz 다운로드. At the halfway mark I had the fight 57-55 for Ruiz, as the second round 10-7 was the reason for the difference.

The seventh-round saw Ruiz send Ortiz down for the third time and he also took the eighth round for a 77-72 lead

The ninth round was another one I gave to Ruiz as he landed the best punch, but it was close and other observers gave it to Ortiz 다운로드.

Usyk By Split Decision Over Joshua / Retains WBA/IBF/WBO Heavyweight Titles … And Other Bout Results

Oleksandr Usyk took a break from defending his country against the Russian Horde to defend his title against Anthony Joshua in a rematch 나스로. Their first fight saw Usyk outbox Joshua, and Joshua wanted to win back his titles and a possible match with fellow Briton Tyson Fury. –

While Joshua performed better, I had this fight 117-111 for Usyk but you could easily have this fight 115-113 or 116-112 with several of the earlier rounds close and one judge found seven rounds for Joshua 파르페 쇼콜라 다운로드. The last four rounds showed the toughness of both men.

In the ninth round, Joshua landed twenty-eight punches and dominated the round, looking like he took the fight in hand 금영노래방. The tenth round saw Usyk landing thirty-nine punches as he took the fight back. Usyk clinched the fight as he dominated the eleventh and twelfth round 번아웃 파라다이스. Usyk landed seventy-nine punches to Joshua 29 over the final three rounds.

Usyk has three belts and Fury the other. They are the two best heavyweights in the world 한자 폰트 무료 다운로드. Fury Is a natural heavyweight who is light on his feet at 6’9” and Usyk was the cruiserweight champion and moved up to the heavyweight division. Both fighters are undefeated and approach the fight game differently. Fury is a boxer but if he needs to, he can go for knockout whereas Usyk is a fluid boxer. Fury who is rotating between retiring or wanting to fight. Somehow, a 150 million dollar pay day might be enough to get Fury attention for a unification bout.

James Figg

By David Martinez / Boxing Historian / dmboxing.com

As I take you back in time, James Figg, in my estimation, was the first recognized heavyweight boxing champion and was the first to teach and promote boxing at a high level 자동차 주차 다운로드.

Born in 1695, in Thame, Oxfordshire, England, Figg was also an expert swordsman and fought with weapons including swords, quarterstaffs, and cudgels before attaining stardom in his bare knuckle championship boxing reign 다운로드.

By 1719, Figg defeated all challengers; and as those early years passed, he defeated top opponents Timothy Buck, Tom Stokes, Bill Flanders, and Chris Clarkson 다운로드. He also had a string of epic bouts with Edward Sutton, inclulding one in 1725 when Figg suffered his only career defeat.

Figg established a boxing academy in London which is now known as the Tottenham Court Road 다운로드. There he taught boxing skills and the combative techniques in using weapons.

Figg established his own amphitheatre in Oxford Road, a London arena which staged boxing matches 국문 이력서 양식. There he popularized sparring as public entertainment and also offered fencing exhibitions.

Figg also made public appearances at London’s Southwark Fair, Hyde Park, and other outdoor venues where he would take on all comers.

21st Century Heavyweights

다운로드

By Tom Donelson / Member Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA)

Tyson Fury easily beat Dillan Whyte as he ended the fight with a right-hand uppercut.  I look at the 21at century and while this may be heretic to many boxer historians but since 2000, we have seen three great heavyweights.  Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko dominated the division from 2004 to 2015 and Fury since 2015 has been the best heavyweight cython 다운로드.

When Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko, it was assumed that Klitschko failure to get off punches was due to being 39 years old but seven years later Fury finished off Deontay Wilder in the conclusion of their trilogy, we found out that Fury was actually a good boxer and not easy to hit.  In his first fight with Wilder, Wilder had trouble connected but Wilder power nearly ended the fight with a shot in the twelfth round that would have ended any fight with any other heavyweight.  We found that Fury had a chin as he got up and earned a draw 윈도우 8.1 한글 언어 팩 다운로드. (Most boxing pundits and experts had Fury actually winning but I agreed with the draw based on the two knock downs by Wilder that created two 10-8 rounds.)

Fury won the second fight easily simply dominating the fight from the opening rounds to TKO victory in seventh round before they concluded their trilogy with one of the better heavyweight fights as Fury put Wilder down in third round, tenth and in the eleventh-round while Wilder put Fury down twice in the fourth round and almost won the fight right there.  Fury came through with an eleventh-round stoppage.  His fight with Whyte was a typical Fury as he out boxed Whyte easily.  He connected more than double punches than Whyte and Whyte only connected on 17 percent of his shots.  He connected mostly air when attacking Fury and Fury was more accurate with his punches, in particular his power shots.  Fury greatness may depend upon cleaning out the rest of the division, but despite missing three years of his prime to personal problems, he is now the king of the heavyweight.

Tyson Fury: His Place in Boxing History Will Be…?

By Tom Donelson / Author, Member Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA)

Tyson Fury’s place in boxing history is still being written but his trilogy with Deontay Wilder showed that he is the best heavyweight in the world.  He is 31-0-1 with 22 KO’s but the 6’9” fighter is a good boxer, not just for a man his size, but for a heavyweight.

He defeated Wladimir Klitschko who was the best heavyweight of this century at that time 다운로드. Klitschko, along with his brother Vitali, dominated the heavyweight division from 2004 to 2015 when Fury defeated Wladimir.  The original verdict was that Klitschko’s failure to beat Fury was due to his age 해리포터와 죽음의 성물 2 다운로드. Many felt that Klitschko’s failure to land any punches was simply because he couldn’t pull the trigger; but now we can see that Fury was a pretty good boxer and was able to avoid getting hit 다운로드.

After this big victory, Fury had his own battles with demons including drugs and depression which kept him out of the ring for three years.  His comeback featured victories over Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta before he fought Wilder in their first meeting.  The bout ended in a draw, and while many felt Fury won, it was a close fight and he survived two knockdowns.  Wilder was the favorite and considered the baddest puncher in the division, but Fury was the technically better fighter.  I had the fight even due to two 10-8 rounds in Wilder’s favor, but others had Fury winning by a wider margin 다운로드.

From here Fury moved closer to being the best heavyweight as he defeated Otto Wallin and Tom Schwarz before fighting Wilder again.  In this bout, Fury was more aggressive and dominated the fight, stopping Wilder in the seventh sbs 뉴스.

Fury vs. Wilder III … A Heavyweight “Knockout” Classic

By Tom Donelson / Author, Member Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) … vmware fusion. respected contributor to dmboxing.com since 2008

Before the third Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder fight, it was the consensus that Tyson Fury is the best heavyweight in the world.  For a big man, he has light feet that can move with ease, and over the years, he has proven to be a difficult puncher to hit.  When he upset Wladimir Klitschko, it was assumed that Klitschko’s inability to hit Fury was due to Klitschko’s age; but looking back on that fight, it was Fury’s boxing ability that helped him avoid getting hit.  (Klitschko lost to Anthony Joshua but he also hurt and knocked Joshua down, so he found Joshua easier to hit.)

In his first two fights with Wilder, Fury was the superior technician.  In their first fight, two Wilder knockdowns produced the draw as Fury won at least seven rounds on many scorecards.  In their second bout, Fury was more aggressive, utilizing his boxing skills while looking for openings to knock out Wilder 폴라리스 랩소디 다운로드.

Wilder is a good athlete who became a boxer, but as a fighter he has depended primarily upon his knockout punches. However, when he moved up in competition, he didn’t improve his boxing skills.  When he fought Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz, Ortiz outboxed Wilder only to lose by knockout to him 윈도우 10 rs2 다운로드. In his first fight with Fury, Wilder had difficulty connecting with any offense but managed to nearly end the fight twice with knockout punches. Fury found a way to get up and escaped with a draw 윈도우 10 무비 메이커 다운로드.

Usyk Defeats Joshua “Unanimous Decision”

By Tom Donelson (BWAA) Member Boxing Writers Association of America

Boxing just saw a big shock in the heavyweight division as Oleksandr Usyk upset Anthony Joshua by out boxing him on Saturday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.  Usyk, in his third heavyweight fight since moving up from being a cruiserweight champion, fought a brilliant boxing match in out-dueling Joshua 다운로드.

Usyk landed two left hands that rocked Joshua’s head back and came forward but stayed mobile.  Joshua didn’t move as fluidly and spent the first round being cautious 파이널 판타지 13 다운로드.

During the second and the third rounds, Usyk stayed out of Joshua’s reach and landed with his left. Joshua landed a couple of rights but got rocked by a big shot from Usyk, the smaller man 다운로드.  Throughout the fourth round, Usyk appeared to dominate with his boxing skills but in the fifth round, Joshua nailed Usyk with a solid shot.

Through the first half, it was a technical fight which favored Uysk as he dictated the pace and both fighters kept their distance.  During the sixth round, fans roared when Joshua landed hard shots and it even appeared that Usyk was moving backwards as Joshua moved forward.  One of the Sky Sports pundits had the fight four rounds to two in favor of Usyk 다운로드.

Joshua was a fighter who had the confidence of a champion entering the seventh round.  He snapped a body shot with his left but got countered with a shot from Usyk that stunned him, but he recovered quickly.  Usyk was back in charge at end of the seventh round 다운로드.

Ruiz Jr. wins decision “unanimously” over Arreola (5-1-21)

By Tom Donelson / Author, Member Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA)

Andy Ruiz may be the fourth best heavyweight or even the third if you believe he could be Deontay Wilder.  It was not that long ago he defeated Joshua for his heavyweight title before losing it in a rematch.   When Ruiz fought Joshua in his rematch, he weighed 285 pounds but for Chris Arreola, this was his last opportunity for a big event.  Having lost three shots for the heavyweight title, Arreola last bout was a loss in 2019, pre pandemic and at 40, he was the overwhelming underdog.

Andy Ruiz does not have the svelte body, but he has some of the heavyweight fastest hands and at 31, he was at his peak compared to Chris Arreola.  There was a time that Arreola was the guy everyone thought could be the first Mexican American heavyweight but that was never to happen as he fell short, Ruiz did become the first Mexican-American to win the title.  Arreola has been a good fighter who never seem to be able to be part of the elites of the division 카툰워즈 1 ios 다운로드. Ruiz on the other hand, has been to the top and shown that he could compete with the elites as his first victory over Joshua showed when he stopped the British fighter.  Coming overweight in the rematch, Joshua out boxed Ruiz and used his reach to stay out of harm’s way of Ruiz.
