By David Martinez / dmboxing.com

The boxing world was saddened to learn long time boxing icon Don Fraser passed away on October 31, 2019 유튜브 자막 다운로드. He was 92 years old.

Don was a special man, and truly a giving human being to all who knew him.

I first met Don thirty years ago at the old Spaghetti Factory in Hollywood, California, when he hosted weekly boxing luncheons at that historic location 다운로드.

I was so honored to be his close friend. Through the years we conversed frequently by phone, and he would often send me boxing trivia questions for my website 오버로드 13권 다운로드.

Don was a great mentor to many and I consider him to be the “Mr google play service. Boxing” of his era. His accomplishments in the world of boxing included promoter, matchmaker, publicist, writer, corner man, Executive Officer for the California Athletic Commission, President Golden State Boxer’s Association, and more recently, he was President and Founder of the California Boxing Hall of Fame 다운로드. Bert Cooper, Harold Lederman (R.I.P.)

By Tom Donelson / Author, Member Boxing Writers Association … Contributor to dmboxing.com since 2008 with expertise, articles, and input

Last week, boxing lost both Bert Cooper and Harold Lederman.  Bert Cooper began as a cruiserweight but it was as a heavyweight that he fought every major figure in the late 1980’s and the 1990’s including George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer, and Michael Moorer 다운로드. His overall record does not speak Hall of Fame with 25 losses go to with his 38 wins but many of his losses came later in his career.  From the time he fought his first pro fight in 1984 to his last fight in 2012, he proved to be a warrior and willing to go toe-to-toe with any fighter.  RIP Bert Cooper 60초.

Harold Lederman educated an entire audience on the nuances of boxing and scoring through his position with HBO.  Perhaps Lederman’s death symbolized the change in boxing and the new TV reality 다운로드. Lederman, from his perch at HBO, was part of some of the biggest fights, and there was a time that HBO was where the big fights were; but today, HBO no longer covers boxing matches and Lederman, sadly, is no longer with us to score fights 넷폴더.

Lederman would tell the boxing fans that the four big ways to view a fight include ring generalship, clean scoring, defense, and effective aggressiveness 유희왕 극장판 다운로드. He explained how each played a role in his scoring, and I would agree with Lederman’s view the vast majority of the time.

Lederman spent six decades involved in the sports and now his daughter, Julie, carries on the legacy.  Lederman was known more for his scoring fights on HBO, but he judged over 1000 fights as a judge and those six decades gave Lederman a unique perspective on the sport as well historical insight.  He also was not afraid of the new technology, such as Compubox, and used them in his analysis 다운로드. (While Compubox has its limitations, it does give a fan insight into the sport and, explained correctly, it does give you insight on why a boxer won or lost a fight.)

Harold Lederman – R.I.P.

By David Martinez / dmboxing.com

I am saddened to report the passing of one of my best friends, HBO Boxing’s Harold Lederman 다운로드. After battling cancer, Harold passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019. He was 79 years old.

Harold was truly a boxing icon. He was also a special friend and one of the kindest people I ever met 다운로드.

We met over 20 years ago, during my tenure as Boxing Historian and Board Member for the World Boxing Hall of Fame.

Since that time, we remained in close contact and I often shared his podcast videos, “Hey Harold” for my readers, on this website 다운로드. We also even exchanged Christmas cards every year.

In October, 2013 Harold was inducted into the California Boxing Hall of Fame. Due to a commitment with HBO he was unable to attend his induction ceremony 로보카폴리 시즌3. I was so honored that he picked me to receive his induction award, in his absence.

Harold was licensed as a professional boxing judge in 1967, and established himself as one of the world’s top judges long before joining HBO in 1986 다운로드.

He judged more than 100 world title fights on six continents, and in his 32 years of sitting ringside for HBO, judged over 1,000 fights as their “Unofficial Official” 다운로드.

He retired as an active judge in 1999, but remained with HBO Boxing until they left the airwaves in December 2018.

Dub Harris – World Boxing Hall of Fame

By David Martinez / dmboxing.com

I want to tell you about a man for whom I, and many others, have the utmost respect – Maurice “Dub” Harris 소드마스터 다운로드.

I first met Dub in November 1996, when I was introduced to him by Deborah Sutherland- Hocamp.  At that time, Dub was president of the World Boxing Hall of Fame and Deborah was Vice President and Advisor 영혼의 집 다운로드.  That October, Deborah had heard me doing play-by-play  commentary for a boxing show broadcast on KVEN-AM Ventura radio with Barry Turnbull and, knowing Barry, she later asked him “Who is this guy David Martinez who knows so much about boxing?”

The rest is now history and, as it turned out, meeting Dub began a huge chapter in my life and in my passion for boxing.  Dub interviewed me at his Los Angeles (Commerce), California office.  Although nervous, I was confident during the interview, and he immediately, on that day, on the spot, welcomed me into the organization, asking me to start officially in January 1997 as a member of the Board of Directors 다운로드.

Dub told me something at that initial interview that I will never forget, and I applied it to the fullest during my ten year (1997-2007) tenure in the World Boxing Hall of Fame 홀로그램 영상 다운로드.  The quote was “Don’t ever let me down, Martinez.”  I must admit, that single phrase prompted me to become the best I could be while serving in the World Boxing Hall of Fame and that quote still motivates me to this day 크롬 어도비 플래시 플레이어 다운로드.

Don Chargin – Outstanding Promoter and Matchmaker Passes Away – R.I.P.

By David Martinez / dmboxing.com

On September 29, 2018, Hall of Fame boxing promoter and matchmaker Don Chargin died at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo, California, after a battle with lung and brain cancer, at the age of 90 윈도우 10 스팀 다운로드.

Don, his wife Lorraine, and First Lady of Boxing Aileen Eaton staged many memorable bouts on a weekly basis for 20 years (1964-1984) at the Olympic Auditorium, Sports Arena, and the Memorial Coliseum 제빵왕 김탁구 다운로드.

I didn’t know Chargin on a personal basis, but according to legendary Hall of Fame promoter Don Fraser, who was best of friends with Chargin, he was outstanding in all phases of boxing and a kind, wonderful human being.  The late TV and radio ringside announcer Jim Healy labeled him as “War a Week” Chargin for his excellent array of fights which were held on a regular basis 다운로드.

Chargin promoted his first boxing card sixty-seven years ago on September 3, 1951, in San Jose, California;  the main event that night was Manuel Ortiz vs 다운로드. Eddie Chavez in a lightweight bout.

One thing that Chargin and I agreed on was that the greatest fight staged at the Olympic Auditorium was Mando Ramos vs 다운로드. Sugar Ramos, a ten round lightweight bout that packed the historic arena on August 6, 1970 – a night attending at ringside I will never forget.
