In Rusty’s Corner

The boxing Gods have not been kind to our sport this month 다운로드. Losing Alexis Arguello, Arturo Gatti and now Vernon Forrest in a three week period is really tough for a sport that hasn’t got many big names, either as fighters or good will representatives left 다운로드. Then there were others, some younger, some older who answered their final bell. May God have mercy on their souls.

Boxing will be back, bet on it 다운로드. But it will take some big names and great fights to get our sport going again, and sadly, I don’t see much on the horizon.

Veteran Juan Manuel Marquez will take on Floyd Mayweather jr. on Sept. 19th in Vegas. That should be a help, and a very interesting fight to watch. It’s far from a gimme for the comeback ex-champ.

The major fight this week is from Palm Springs California, when undefeated Tim Bradley jr. takes on hard punching veteran Nate Campbell 33-5-2 1 (25) for the WBO light welterweight title.

The veteran Campbell is the harder puncher, but hasn’t fought much or looked very sharp the past couple of years. At 37, his best days may be well behind him, but he is a gamer.

Bradley, 24-0, (11) is just 25. He beat Kendall Holt in his last fight and is much faster and much the better boxer.

So it’s speed vs. power in this interesting match-up and if Campbell can’t find a way to knock Bradley out, he should find himself on the short side of a possible lop-sided decision. It could well be the end of Campbell’s illustrious career.

Since Bradley has shown he can take a good punch, I’ll pick him to win by a unanimous decision.***

Glove 2 Glove:

Prayers for the soul of former champs, Arturo Gatti and Vernon Forrest, who left us with many favorable memories, both in and out of the ring.

It would take a while to list all the other fine boxing people who left us since my last article, so a prayer for all of them would be in order. May the good Lord have mercy on their souls.

Alex Ramos, the Bronx Bomber and founder of the Retired Boxers Association, is having more health problems and needs our help, financial if possible but definitely our prayers.

On behalf of these great fighters who have given their all in our great sport, we thank you for your ongoing prayers.

If you know of any boxing people in need of spiritual uplift or prayers, just drop us a line. It’s free to all and no one will ever contact you except for prayer requests, or put your name on anyone’s mailing list. To join drop me a line at Rusty@ringsports.com.

Thanks and God bless.***
