Sarah Cammann … A Jewel in Boxing

 By David Martinez / dmboxing.com

SC - 1

When I think of women in boxing, the first lady that comes to my mind is Aileen Eaton 다운로드. She was the legendary fight promoter at the historic Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles from 1942 to 1980. Her outstanding knowledge about fighters and the business of boxing earned her the first ever honor of a woman being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2002 구글 드라이브 폴더. She is also an inductee in the World Boxing Hall of Fame and the California Boxing Hall of Fame.

SC - 2I fully support women in boxing in any capacity and would like to bring to your attention a lady that is my friend – Sarah Cammann 다운로드.

I met Sarah about five years ago while she was attending the University of California Santa Barbara. She would come into Duke’s Boxing every day for fitness, which led her into boxing 가정부 미타. Owner Henry Calles opens his door and offers his expertise in the sport to all that come to Duke’s Boxing. From the moment Sarah entered the gym, we all “instantly” knew there was something special – very special – about her and this did manifest itself bigger than life right before our very eyes over the past years through her dedication 다운로드.SC - 3

Sarah has become more than just another person in the gym with her hard work and her nothing is too meaningless to help attitude 성경 찬송 무료 다운로드. She trains and is involved in everything in and out of the gym. Most importantly, last year when Henry became a professional in the ring and we needed a Team Manager, there was no one who came to mind but Sarah to fulfill those business duties and to be a hands-on figure in the gym, both training for Henry and helping others in the gym as well 다운로드.SC - 4

She trains and boxes herself, and for a lady that is just 100 pounds strong – she is dynamite 다운로드.

SC - 9

I can say so many positive things about Sarah in boxing, but what really stands out are her focus, loyalty, dependability and kindness in being willing to learn the trade of boxing html5 멀티 파일. I might surmise this is brought on by her being an elementary school teacher and helping kids in her regular job.

SC - 7For those who know Sarah, you will certainly agree with me that she is a wonderful human being 김동률 출발. I consider myself blessed to have her in my life. Sarah’s growing knowledge in a sport she loves will only get brighter in the years to come – like a jewel in boxing!

Calles wins The Rematch

By David Martinez

On December 6, 2013, the Chumash Casino, in Santa Ynez, California showcased a terrific night of boxing 밤안개. The entire card was filled with action and it was the night that Henry Calles won his light-heavyweight rematch (vs. Zlatko Ledic ) by a four round unanimous decision 고잉 마이 홈.

Calles won three of the four rounds  on my card (39-37 on points) as I viewed the fight at ringside working his corner.

At the opening bell, Calles came out on fire and twice came close to a first round knockout, winning that round big 다운로드. He won rounds two and three, but there was concern about midway in round three, as Calles seemed to fade with his stamina. I would attribute that to maybe being over-trained, leaving the peak of his fitness in the gym 다운로드. Just a week before the fight he was so pumped up that he stated “I’m so fired up I almost kicked my office door down today” which leads me to believe this was the case why Calles had his lapse in conditioning 다운로드.

The rematch for Henry Calles is set for Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Chumash Casino Resort, Santa Ynez, California os x 10 9 5 download.

As many who have followed Team Duke’s, Henry made his professional debut this past August 16th and fought a four round draw with Zlatko Ledic 인벤터 2017 크랙 다운로드.

Henry is currently right in the middle of training camp and our team of Sarah Cammann, Mark Lee and myself are right there every step of the way in preparing for our next task at hand 가을안부.

The last fight was a four rounder and I remember quite well after the end of that bout, walking back to our dressing room with Henry. My exact words were “when we fight this guy again and we will because this was fight of the night here and they will want us back, we will go six rounds” …  Henry looked straight back into my eyes with the piercing eye of the tiger and after a slight hesitation said “yeah let’s do this again – yes” 다운로드.

Henry Calles’ Debut is a DRAW!

By David MartinezIMG955129 Henry 1

A week after the fight, I have had more than enough time to digest our bout last Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California, and my feelings on Henry Calles’ debut is that it was a sweet thing; but the decision was disappointing to me 다운로드.

Henry worked ten weeks to prepare for the fight and our Duke’s Boxing Team was right there each step of the way. Henry ran every day to achieve his superior conditioning and, personally, I am so proud of his performance in the ring; but a draw 다운로드?

Closing the Distance

I have met so many wonderful people in boxing over the years 다운로드. Working with the younger generation at the gym is always a delight for me. As the kids grow up, come and go, and maneuver their way in life, I try to stay in touch 롯데월드 어드벤처. Though with some I seem to lose track, there is one young lady I will always keep in contact with: Desiree D’Alessandro. I have previously posted her on my website and would like to update on her current whereabouts 다운로드. Desiree graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara this past June 2011 and has relocated to her home town of Tampa, Florida. She accomplished her schooling with a Master of Arts degree and has continued her boxing training with her busy work schedule 다운로드. Below is a chapter I wrote for her (forthcoming) collective publication regarding her graduate studies and boxing while attending UCSB. I would like to share with you my chapter on UCSB boxing history and my involvement. Desiree and I have stayed in touch on a regular basis even though we live 3,000 miles part 전략삼국지 다운로드. Our maintained true friendship and communication closes the distance.
