The Spring season is officially here and it’s that time once again, as I do on a quarterly basis, to say thank you to a small team of people that help make dmboxing.com the success that it has become since the first publication on July 15, 2007.

I would like to acknowledge these people, who are: Bob Quackenbush (Lead Assistant / Proof Reader); Tom Donelson (Member Boxing Writers Association of America); Steve Corbo (Boxing Writer / Proof Reader); and Kathy Kraft (Proof Reader).

There are three other people who are no longer with us (R.I.P.) that contributed in a tremendous way to this website, and they are Rusty Rubin (In Rusty’s Corner / Glove2Glove), Harold Lederman (Hey Harold! / HBO World Championship Boxing), and Jim Amato (Senior Boxing Writer / Boxing Historian). These men were my dearest of friends, never to be forgotten, and resting peacefully in heaven with the Lord.

I would like to first and foremost offer my sincerest condolences to the family of a true friend, boxing historian and avid sports collector – Jim Amato – who passed away in Ashland, Ohio on February 22, 2021, at the age of 66.

I have met many boxing people and fighters in my over sixty years in boxing and Jim was as wonderful a human being as I have had the pleasure of knowing.

He came on board with dmboxing.com in 2008 and contributed simply the best of the best in boxing. May his soul rest peacefully in heaven with the Lord.

Along with Jim Amato, there are two others who are no longer with us (R.I.P.) who added so much of their expertise and input to my website. They are Rusty Rubin (In Rusty’s Corner / Glove2Glove) and Harold Lederman (Hey Harold! / HBO World Championship Boxing). These gentlemen were special friends whom I will never forget.

Spring is here and once again it’s that time to say thank you for making this website one of your choices in boxing.

It is such a delight to bring the best in boxing as I know it to everyone, with my involvement that goes back to 1961 – fifty nine years.

I would like to acknowledge a wonderful select group of people that help make dmboxing.com the success it has been since its start on July 15, 2007. They are: Bob Quackenbush (Lead Assistant / Proof Reader); Tom Donelson (Author, Member Boxing Writers Association of America); Jim Amato (Senior Boxing Writer / Boxing Historian); Steve Corbo (Boxing Writer / Proof Reader); Kathy Kraft (Proof Reader).

Two people, my dearest friends, who are not with us (R.I.P.) that offered their expertise are: Rusty Rubin (In Rusty’s Corner / Glove2Glove) who was the first to contribute to dmboxing.com in July 2007; and Harold Lederman (Hey Harold / HBO World Championship Boxing). I miss both so very much. They will never be forgotten, and now rest peacefully with the Lord in heaven.

I would also like to pay my respects to Dr. Joe Noriega (R.I.P.) who passed away just over a year ago on February 18, 2019. Such a dear and close friend, he was the former president of the World Boxing Hall of Fame where I honorably served on the Board of Directors and as Boxing Historian. He was well known in the Los Angeles area for his outstanding work in the chiropractic field – we all miss you, Dr. Joe!

I would also like to say thank you to the young ladies that offer their beauty modeling my website products, and the model in this edition – Hellen.

I receive my share of fan mail and it’s always nice to respond with my input and views on any particular fighter, fight, or matter.  My intention is never to change the opinions of others but solely to give respect to their input, as I would hope others would do towards me.

The Fall season is here and once again it’s that time to say thank you to all for making this website one of your choices in boxing. It is my pleasure and I treasure the opportunity to provide the best of boxing as I know it to everyone.

A small team of people that help enhance dmboxing.com and whom I would like to acknowledge are: Bob Quackenbush (Lead Assistant / Proof Reader); Kathy Kraft (Proof Reader); Jim Amato (Senior Boxing Writer / Boxing Historian); Tom Donelson / Author, Member Boxing Writers Association of America); Steve Corbo (Boxing Writer / Proof Reader); Harold Lederman (R.I.P. / Hey Harold / HBO World Championship Boxing); and Rusty Rubin (R.I.P. / In Rusty’s Corner / Glove2Glove). [Note: Rusty was the first to contribute to dmboxing in July 2007].

The young ladies that have modeled my products over the years have certainly added beauty and, although not professional models, they have contributed with class and charm.

The attractive website hat displayed in the photo above (thank you model Sandria) is a top selling product. It is embroidered with the official logo on the front and website address on the backside. It has an adjustable Velcro strap to fit all sizes. It has now been two months since we lost one the greatest boxers, Pernell Whitaker. He was a champion in four different weight divisions, and accumulated an outstanding professional record of 40 wins, 4 losses, one draw, and one no-contest, with 17 by knockout. Many have asked me where I rank him amongst the elite lightweights of all time. My ranking is at #6, with my top ten being (in order) Benny Leonard, Roberto Duran, Joe Gans, Tony Canzoneri, Jimmy McLarnin, Pernell Whitaker, Carlos Ortiz, Ike Williams, Freddie Welsh, and Battling Nelson.
