On Thursday, February 2, 2017 two up and coming, undefeated, prospects met at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, Mississippi in a super lightweight slugfest – Eddie Ramirez (16-0 / 11 by KO) won by TKO after Ryan Karl (13-1 / 9 by KO) after Karl didn’t answer the bell for the 10th and final round.
The bout was competitive, but it was Ramirez who had the edge using the jab and landing effective body shots against the aggressor Karl; who appeared over anxious at times and not landing the cleaner punches.
Ramirez was the sharper of the two in countering and with better movement, as Karl without head movement was made to order for Ramirez.
Karl was cut in the seventh round – left eye that had no effect on the fight.
Both boxers have bright futures and time will only tell how far they will go as they both progress in their young careers. It appears the bigger Karl will move up in weight to welterweight, is my prediction.
At the time of the stoppage – my scorecard was 89-82, eight rounds to one for the winner Eddie Ramirez. The lone round I gave Karl was the third.
