(Summer 2013 Edition)
It’s that time of year again when good weather is upon us – Summer time. I am pleased to announce that I have added two new products representing my website. These products are a white V-neck short sleeve t-shirt and a white tank top. In 2007, I introduced my first product online, a long sleeve white t-shirt, which has now become a collector’s item. By popular requests from my fan base, I am going back to my original color of white for t-shirts and tank tops. Both of these new products display the official dmboxing.com logo on the front and the website address installed in smaller print for viewing across the upper back. I will advertise information for purchasing both products in the next couple of weeks, so be sure to stay tuned to this website for that.
This website was born on July 15, 2007 and the number of hits since then has increased by volumes with your loyal support. My intent is to bring you boxing in a positive and professional manner. I have been involved in this sport since 1961 and it is my life and passion.
I want to thank a unique group of people that make this website what it is. They are: John Boitnott (Web Master), Bob Quackenbush (Proof Reader and Photo Editing), Rusty Rubin (In Rusty’s Corner), Dave Wilcox (Glove2Glove), Jim Amato (Senior Boxing Writer), Tom Donelson (Member, Boxing Writers Association), Kathy Kraft (Proof Reader), and Phyllis Vincent (Proof Reader). It’s a small team, but they pack a huge punch with their willingness to enhance this website into what it has become.
I would also like to thank my girls that pose with my products. They are not professional models but add a touch of natural beauty in lending a helping hand.
Steve Corbo and Adam Pollack have provided excellent posts and I would also like to thank them for their contributions of expertise.
My fan mail is great, and I welcome your opinions and respect all views. A feature that everybody enjoys as a reference guide is the Fight Calendar, which lists every major bout in the world. You can view this posting on a monthly basis at the beginning of each month.
Another feature that appears quarterly (March – June – September – December) is my RING TRIVIA. I have always been fascinated by boxing trivia, ever since I was a little kid. I would forever ask questions and would try to outwit my older counterparts in boxing. Now, as I am the older one, the younger “wits” are asking me the questions. It is, hopefully educational for them; and it is definitely fun for me as I answer the many boxing questions that I receive. As always, I am pleased to offer this feature on my website.
I am absolutely delighted to announce that Henry Calles, from our gym, Duke’s Boxing and Fitness, will be making his professional debut on August 16, 2013 at the Chumash Casino venue in Santa Ynez, California. By going to “menu” on this website under Duke’s Boxing you can see prior articles and video of Henry. Our team consists of Mark Lee (trainer), Sarah Cammann (manager), and myself as a second in his corner. For those of you that live in the Southern California area, I hope to see you that night at ringside to support Henry.
I know you have many boxing websites to choose from on the internet and I certainly appreciate you viewing dmboxing.com and I would like to encourage you to support another boxing website that I endorse. It is my friend, Edgar Gonzalez, who does a wonderful job producing www.myboxingfans.com.
This month is my birthday, so let me take you back exactly two years ago to a very special day that I will never forget. On June 25, 2011, I officially retired from my job with the State of California / Caltrans after 40 years of service, celebrating my birthday and my retirement with family and many friends. Click on the link here and I will share a short video segment of that wonderful day:
Again, thank you for your kind and positive support. It’s an honor to serve my fans the best in boxing!
