Three important fights to analyze this week. On HBO and from Atlantic City, Kelly Pavlik takes on Gary Lockett in an important middleweight contest. Lockett cannot be overlooked, but Pavlik, who always seems to be in shape, should prevail.

On Showtime, from the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, Vernon Forrest continues his quest to regain the Jr. Middleweight crown by taking on former ‘Contender’ and always tough Sergio Mora.

Styles make fights, and it’s hard to see how Mora can win this fight, except perhaps for an accidental clash of heads. I’m certainly not predicting that. Forrest by decision.

The other co-feature on Showtime and part of a great twin bill at the Mohegan Sun, features Paul Williams trying to get back his welterweight belt from his ever present nightmare, Carlos Quintana. In my opinion this should be the best of the three contests. Williams couldn’t beat Quintana in his hometown in Southern California, how can he expect to do so here? He shouldn’t, and a lot of blood may flow before it’s all over, but I won’t predict the upset here, the favorite, Williams by a very close decision.
