One very big fight this weekend, for the IBF middleweight title…Arthur Abraham will be the hometown favorite against a strong and game Raul Marquez.

Abraham goes into this fight a heavy favorite, but in boxing there is no such animal as a ‘sure thing’. Granted, in Germany, if the fight goes to a decision, there is little that Marquez can do to win. And while Marquez can box, Abraham is an excellent boxer with a bit more speed.

That leaves only one legit way Marquez can win, and that’s via the KO route. Abraham has shown no signs of cutting, so a TKO would be a stretch. But, Raul Marquez can punch.

The odds say that Abraham, who can bang, should have little trouble with Marquez, but this is one fight where I lean to the heavier hitter. Marquez has shown good power at times and if I were to wager on this contest, it would be Marquez by KO.

Glove 2 Glove:

Prayers would be most welcome for the complete recovery of Patty Escalara, a big fight fan from East LA who now resides in Santa Barbara, California. Even fighters like her could use some assistance from the Big Guy upstairs.

Oscar Diaz emerged from a coma last week. He’s still in a Houston hospital and is now in stable condition. Keep those prayers going for this brave fighter.

Another brave fighter, The Bronx Bomber, Alex Ramos is out of the hospital and recuperating at home. Please say prayers for his complete recovery.

Glad to report that 92 year young cut-man Chuck Bodak is out of the hospital and doing well. You can send Chuck your best wishes to Vasil ‘Chuck’ Bodak, B &B Country Manor IV, 26711 Valpariso, Mission Viejo, CA. 92691. I know he appreciates all the prayers and well wishes.

Geneva Luna, mother of our ace photographer Ray Luna, is also recovering nicely from a stroke.

Please say prayers for Phill Grazide of Santa Rosa, CA. a big supporter of amateur boxing, who is suffering the crippling effects of rheumatoid arthritis.***
