In Rusty’s Corner

Rusty Rubin is a veteran boxing writer

Some disappointing news since I’ve been away. To me the worst of it was the information that Evander Holyfield beat his wife. For me, that’s a terrible thing for Evander (or anyone else to do). A man should never hit a woman, and a God-fearing boxer should know better 드라마 나쁜남자 다운로드. Mike Tyson, Jake LaMotta and others have done this, but they never claimed to have found God.

Through the years Evander has exhibited a lot of class, and now this? Has the ‘real deal’ become the ‘real schlemiel’?

Kelly Pavlik signed to fight Sergio Martinez, in what could be an interesting fight.

Mayweather and Mosley will get it on as well as Clottey and Pacquiao 다운로드.

A boxing writer/maven named Mike Silver was kind enough to send me his new book, “The Arc of Boxing”. This book pulls no punches and clearly explains why boxers in the past were better than fighters in recent times. And, that’s something I agree with.

Boxers in the past were ‘hungry’ and would take a fight on a moments notice. They stayed in shape because they had to survive tough economic times 집행검키우기 다운로드. Yes, times are also tough now, but you don’t see a lot of young people turning to the ring for a livelihood.

Today there are a rash of title’s to go around. Now there is a crossover to mixed martial arts, which I personally do not enjoy watching. But there are enough paying customers willing to accept it, so it will keep going for a while longer 다운로드.

Anyone wishing to debate Mr. Silver’s conclusions should first pick up and read this book. He makes a very strong case for the good old days, and is backed up by noted boxing trainers, writers and historians.

While it’s not exactly a boxing book, my good friend Johnny Ortiz has written a great must-read called “My Life among the Icons”. This book offers a great insight into the lives of famous Los Angeles characters, boxing folks included mbc 스페셜 내가 죽는 날에는. You can pick it up in the bookstores now!***

The big or at least the best fight this week (on paper) takes place in Yucatan, Mexico.

This fight for the WBC featherweight crown takes place on Feb. 20 and features Elio Rojas taking on Guty Espadas Jr.

Espadas, 35, took a few years off, returned to the ring in 2007, and has won seven straight matches 다운로드.

Rojas, eight years his junior, is 21-1 with 13 knockouts. His only loss was on a split decision. He also is eight years younger than Espadas.

While Espadas, 45-7 (28), is the taller of the two at 5’9” vs. 5”7’, Rojas has longer arms and sports a three inch reach advantage.

This should be an exciting and fun fight to watch.

I’ll go with experience here and take Espadas by decision, but I do believe that in the near future Rojas will wear the crown Excel download.
