Rusty Rubin has been a boxing writer for more than 30 years.
Hard work continues on my next book. I’m still hoping to find a few more boxing fans and others who can and will contribute to it with true stories of inspiration and miracles that they have experienced. All proceeds will go to help find a cure for cancer.
FYI, I do not have cancer and as far as I know, no one in my family has ever had it, so like many people, I’ve seen first-hand the ravages of this terribly ugly disease, but I’ve also been blessed far more than most, albeit not financially, but with many friends and loved ones who have always been by my side.
I’m simply asking the readers for stories of inspiration and miracles, not money. The stories that I’m seeking do not have to be boxing related or religion based, just honest experiences that you’ve had and want to share to help others. Your stories can help prolong and hopefully save many lives. Your name can be withheld by request as it’s the stories I need for the book.
This week we have what should be a very exciting Jr. Middleweight bout to unify the WBA/WBC titles. The fight is to be held in San Antonio, and needless to say, a lot is at stake for both fighters.
Upcoming southpaw, 27 year old Austin Trout will be taking on an unbeaten, 22 year- old Canelo Alvarez.
Trout is 26-0 with 14 knockouts. He has an inch and a half reach advantage and stands an inch taller than Alvarez, but he doesn’t have the experience, as the younger Alvarez has 15 more fights on his record 41-0-1 (30).
Since neither fighter shows a lot of one-punch knockout power, you would think that this fight should go to a decision. Here’s the caveat, because of their styles and Trout’s height advantage, the fight could easily end with a clash of heads and a lot of blood being spilled.
It should be exciting and short or long and dull, but I doubt the dull part would add to the equation.
This fight will end in a clash of heads mid-way and whoever is ahead on the score a card with have their hands raised.
Call me goofy (I’ve been called a lot worse), but I think Alvarez will be ahead on the scorecards and win a technical decision.

Do you know of any boxing people in need of spiritual uplifting and/or prayers? It’s absolutely free. Join Glove to Glove! Just drop us a line. Membership to our prayer group is free to all and no one will ever contact you except for other prayer requests.
We never give out or sell out our members. I can almost assure you that your name or contact information will not suddenly appear on anyone’s mailing list. In short, there is absolutely no obligation. Every prayer request is most welcome and I know all the recipients will appreciate it.
Why? Because it’s healing to know that other people care, even about people they don’t know, and to have the knowledge that God always listens!

Glove2Glove, which had been a long-time integral part of the recently defunct Ringsports.com magazine and website. It is a wonderful program that I wish to have continued a long after I have left the sport and this earth. I want to thank Dave and Deborah Wilcox, who have offered to take over the program and promised to continue it indefinitely. Their generous offer means a lot to me. We always welcome new members.***
Thanks and God bless.***
