By David Martinez / dmboxing.com

Please join me in support of the Henry Armstrong Foundation, Inc.

The mission of the foundation is to honor the legacy and spirit of one the greatest boxers of all time, triple champion Henry Armstrong. They strive to maintain improvement in quality of life for those who are less fortunate and to feed the poor in need.

They also provide scholarships to financially needy students and support youth through positive thinking mentoring.

Sponsors, volunteers and any donations are needed. For  information please contact Edward Scott, Jr., President / CEO, at email: Scottedward1@aol.com or you can view the website at: HenryArmstrongFoundation.org

At the recent 32nd annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Kingdom Parade in Los Angeles on January 16, 2017, the Henry Armstrong Foundation was on hand with a decorated float and many supporters for the event. The celebration is the largest of its kind in the United States of America honoring Dr. King.

Here are a few photo shots of the parade taken off the TV coverage that was shown live by KABC Channel 7. Please note the larger photo above is courtesy of Tiffany Lam from Montero On Boxing (thank you, Tiffany). It is a great photo of Edward and Kimberly Scott; Edward is the grandson of Henry Armstrong.

Henry Armstrong Foundation, Inc.

By David Martinez / dmboxing.com

I am in full support of the wonderful Henry Armstrong Foundation, Inc. with their mission of helping many human beings world-wide and, in doing so, keeping the legacy of one boxing’s greatest champions of all time – Henry Armstrong.  In his professional career Henry held the featherweight, lightweight and welterweight titles simultaneously, a feat that no boxer has ever done.

On January 16, 2017 in Los Angeles, California we are paying tribute to: Dr. Martin Luther King; The Greatest – Muhammad Ali; The former WBC President, Don José Sulaimán Chagnon; and The Great Henry Armstrong. This tribute will be in the 32nd Annual Martin Luther King Kingdom Day Parade.

The Foundation is seeking sponsors who would like to have their logos placed on the Henry Armstrong Foundation 32nd Annual MLK Parade Limited Edition T-shirts. For a sponsorship of $250, their logos can be placed on the back of the T-shirts. For a sponsorship of $500, their logos can be displayed on the Henry Armstrong Foundation float. Women’s Golden Gloves

The Women’s National Golden Gloves is this week! My friend, Desiree D’Alessandro is putting a call out to anyone interested in supporting her ambition to win the national title!
This endeavor will not come cheap, with the 8-hour round-trip commute and gas expenses, hotel reservations, registration and licensing fees for her and her corner, and a rental vehicle for the week since her car recently died. Any support to help her make this dream come true would be greatly appreciated! Donations are currently being accepted at www.desiree-dalessandro.com.
Please share with others who might be interested in contributing!

please note – that Desiree is a dear friend and any help that we can give her will probably be more appreciated to me – than to her.  She is such a hard working and dedicated human being – I just love her!

Thank you in advance for your support and contribution you might provide to her!

Desiree D’Alessandro’s Kickstarter Campaign

Hello David and dmboxing fans:

I am thrilled to have launched my Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for my Artist Residency in Spain!
Please visit my Kickstarter Page here: http://kck.st/Nxc4Fh

Please check out the video for the campaign here:

Short Description: I am an emerging artist and amateur boxer, recently invited to create experimental & site-specific artworks at the Can Serrat Artist Residency Program in El Bruc, Spain. I plan to explore walking as an artistic medium for a variety of performances, site-specific installations, and time-lapse investigations around Spain, similar to the contributions of walking artists Richard Long, Hamish Fulton, and Christian Philipp Muller. I can’t wait to share my experience abroad with you and appreciate your encouragement/support!

“Walking shares with making and working that crucial element of engagement of the body and the mind with the world, of knowing the world through the body and the body through the world.” ― R. Solnit

Thank you who would support an aspiring amatuer boxer and artist!
Best, Desiree Ann D’Alessandro
