It’s a pleasure to acknowledge these people, who are: Bob Quackenbush (Proof Reader / Photo Input); Tom Donelson (Member Boxing Writers Association of America / BWAA); Kathy Kraft (Proof Reader); and Steve Corbo (Boxing Writer).

I also want to mention three people who are no longer with us (R.I.P.) who were so instrumental in contributing to my website, and will never be forgotten. They are: Rusty Rubin (In Rusty’s Corner / Glove2Glove); Harold Lederman (Hey Harold! / HBO World Championship Boxing); and Jim Amato (Senior Boxing Writer / Boxing Historian). May they rest peacefully in heaven with the Lord.

Dispalyed in this edition is my official website hat. It is displayed. It is blue in color with embroidered logo on the front and website address on the back, with an adjustable Velcro strap to fit all sizes. I would like to acknowledge my friend Bob Quackenbush. I have known Bob for 45 years and he certainly adds a tremendous wealth to this website. He does proof reading to perfection and it is such a blessing to have him as part of the dmboxing team.

Bob has also written some nice article pieces for the website, and they can be viewed by going to the category menu and clicking onto his name.

For those not familiar with Bob, also known as “Quack” as his many friends call him, he was born in Glendale, California, attended Crescenta Valley High School, is a graduate of Westmont College, Santa Barbara, California, and resides in lovely Carpinteria, California – thank you Bob!

On Saturday, August 12, was the 5th annual Paul Banke BOX-FAM family BBQ at Covina Park, California. It was truly a wonderful gathering of boxing champions, with tons of friends new and old in attendance. This event was nicely organized by George Rodriguez, with an open invitation to everybody to come and join with an excellent array of foods “pot luck” style to enjoy, plus a wide variety of vendors. Next year cannot come soon enough – can’t wait – I’ll be back!

Here’s sharing a few photos – pictured are Paul Banke … Danny “Little Red” Lopez … and in the group picture are Mike Weaver’s Triplet sons Lloyd, Floyd, Troy, with myself, Robert Ortiz, and Nars Martinez.

As a historian first, and boxing expert second, it is absolutely my pleasure to serve everyone with my over sixty plus years of involvement in boxing. I am delighted with the many comments and input that I receive. I truly intend to always be honest, respectful and honor others opinions.

I have many stories and have been blessed to have met the best boxers in world, with my #1 being Sugar Ray Robinson, and the five men who I consider to have been the greatest boxing historians in my lifetime – Al Nelson, Nat Fleischer, Bert Sugar Hank Kaplin, and Don Fraser. They provided a wealth of knowledge beyond belief in the sport that I have personally been attached to for 62 years, and counting.

It is interesting that each of these five legendary historians all have different rankings in order of the greatest boxers P4P of all time. If they all agreed, this topic would become boring. On this much debated subject, here is my own personal ranking of the top dozen (12) greatest P4P boxers, at the height, peak, prime, pinnacle of their respective careers. Listed alphabetically they are Muhammad Ali, Henry Armstrong, Roberto Duran, Joe Gans, Harry Greb, Eder Jofre, Jack Johnson, Benny Leonard, Joe Louis, Carlos Monzon, Willie Pep, and Sugar Ray Robinson.

I want recognize my fine boxing writer Tom Donelson, who was introduced to me by our mutual friend Rusty Rubin back in 2008. Actually, I had heard about Tom in prior years from the excellent book that he and Rusty co-authored entitled “Billy Soose, The Champion Time Forgot”.

Tom Donelson is a member of the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), and has contributed to dmboxing.com for fifteen years with his expertise and up to date fight results. A huge thank you to Tom who is appreciated by all viewers including myself.

(Summer 2022 Edition)

It is truly a joy to announce that on July 15th this month www.dmboxing.com officially celebrates a milestone … fifteen years online.

The website started back is 2007 and since then I have published 1,894 articles and features world-wide.

It’s absolutely a delight to bring you boxing, as I have produced this site to be the best that I can provide.

Along the way, I have been truly blessed to become acquainted with a wonderful array of fans, with some becoming the closest of friends.

I am also grateful to have a special core group of people that have enhanced the success of the website. First off is John Boitnott, who had the vision to believe in me and was the first webmaster. After serving a trial period learning the mechanics of a website, I am now a proud producer.

There are others in that group who have certainly contributed to the continuing success, and I’ll start with a trio of individuals that are no longer with us (R.I.P.) – may their souls rest peacefully in heaven – Rusty Rubin, Harold Lederman, and Jim Amato. These three have provided a wealth of boxing knowledge to the website.

Rusty was my first writer and featured his monthly column, “In Rusty’s Corner”, and also “Glove2Glove” which offered prayers for the sick, needy, and deceased.

Harold provided his own video shorts called “Hey Harold!” which previewed upcoming major fights to be shown on HBO World Championship Boxing.

Jim was nothing less than brilliant with featured stories on boxers of the past and present. His expertise as a true boxing historian was priceless.
