On Saturday, August 12, was the 5th annual Paul Banke BOX-FAM family BBQ at Covina Park, California. It was truly a wonderful gathering of boxing champions, with tons of friends new and old in attendance. This event was nicely organized by George Rodriguez, with an open invitation to everybody to come and join with an excellent array of foods “pot luck” style to enjoy, plus a wide variety of vendors. Next year cannot come soon enough – can’t wait – I’ll be back!

Here’s sharing a few photos – pictured are Paul Banke … Danny “Little Red” Lopez … and in the group picture are Mike Weaver’s Triplet sons Lloyd, Floyd, Troy, with myself, Robert Ortiz, and Nars Martinez.

There are many who have texted or contacted me with certain questions and their personal opinions. I truly respect those inquires, and here I share five (5) selected questions which have come in with my answers:

On another note of interest, I recently posted for viewing my personal current P4P Rankings. My intent isn’t to change the minds of others, but to respect others as they might respect me. The list, other than the top three to be clear, is very tight among many of these outstanding boxers, and can be switched around as desired. Here’s another look at the list in case anybody missed it the first time around:

1 – Terence Crawford (40-0 / 31 by KO)

2 – Naoya Inoue (25-0 / 22 by KO)

3 – Oleksandr Usyk (21-0 / 14 by KO)

4 – Dmitry Bivol (21-0 / 11 by KO)

5 – Canelo Alvarez (59-2-2 / 39 by KO)

6 – Artur Beterbiev (19-0 / 19 by KO)

7 – Devin Haney (30-0 / 15 by KO)

8 – Gervonta Davis (29-0 / 27 by KO)

9 – Tyson Fury (33-0-1 / 24 by KO)

10 – Shakur Stevenson (20-0 / 10 by KO)

11 – Juan Francisco Estrada (44-3 / 28 by KO)

12 – Teofimo Lopez (19-1 / 13 by KO)

Honorable Mention: Vasiliy Lomachencko, Errol Spence Jr., Jermell Charlo

On a closing note, I want to say its absolutely a pleasure to serve everybody with my views in boxing. I have been at it since 1961. Since that time, I consider myself blessed to have attended many bouts, met great fighters, and the people that I have been associated with in boxing are respected friends.

I know you have many choices in boxing, and I sincerely thank you for making www.dmboxing.com just one of those choices!

  1. The Paul Banke book looks like a great read. I need to order it! Great memories shared and great answers to frequently asked questions as well as your p4p list, akthough I rank Canelo lower and Estrada higher.
