In Rusty’s Corner

Rusty Rubin is a veteran boxing writer

Congratulations to David Martinez, boxing guru, on three great years for his website, dmboxing.com.

It’s been a long time since I last watched soccer, so I decided to give it another chance. I saw the second half of the USA v. Ghana, and found little/no excitement in it 다운로드. They call if football, but I don’t see it. My opinion only, but I found it boring. I tried to compare it to boxing, but the only thing these two sports seemed to have in common are the dives some of the athletes take.

Like I said, soccer is not for everyone, and for those who can say that they really enjoyed the event, great. I’m looking forward to four years from now, for the next major soccer event 윈도우7 통합 iso 다운로드. A long time in this case, at least for this old scribe, is not soon enough. But until then I can watch real sports, news and the always dumb infomercials on the idiot box.***

The Los Angeles based World Boxing Hall of Fame event will be held on November 19, at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Among the new honorees expected to attend are Julio Cesar Chavez, Mike Tyson, Dwight Muhammad Qawi and Bennie Briscoe. In the expanded category, Graham Houston, Jimmy Montoya and Joe Goossen get their well-earned rewards as well.***

In the who gives a damn department, the aforementioned Mike Tyson may forego his Hall of Fame award to fight again, this time against Evander Holyfield 다운로드.

Anyone who buys this match between someone I thought knew enough to retire and Holyfield who clearly does not is loonier than this writer, and that’s going some.

Tyson can’t fight anymore and Holyfield should have retired a long time ago. How many ways can you spell BORING? Oh well, as P.T. Barnum once said, ‘there’s a sucker born every minute’ 노트북 펜. Here comes the World Cup again.

The 100th anniversary of the Jack Johnson – Jim Jeffries fight was celebrated in Reno, NV. from July 1-4. All the reports I’ve seen and the people I’ve spoken to, tell me that this event was a big success. That 1900 year cigar box imagine of Jeffries on David Martinez website was simply outstanding, and thank you David for sharing.

Glove 2 Glove:

Boxing lost three outstanding people over the past few weeks mp4 플레이어.
Thelma Tavares of Reno might be the one missed most, as she and her late husband Ray did so much for the youth of Northern Nevada. Rest in peace, Thelma. The loss is to the amateur boxing programs. You were one of the unsung champions of the sport.

Former outstanding middleweight Denny Moyer answered his final bell in Portland, Oregon and Neville Meade Sr 다운로드. former British heavyweight also moved on to a better place.

Please pray for my Aussie mates and Glove2Glove member John MacDougall, who had to deal with health problems for his wife of many years, Gwen to a nursing home. Both need your prayers for recovery and inner strength.

Prayers for Audrey Talmo, wife of solid boxing guy and Glove2Glove member Ed. Also prayers for the recovery of Mills Lane and Denis Wilcox.

Glove2Glove, which has been a long-time integral part of the defunct Ringsports.com magazine and website. It is a program I wish to continue a long after I have left the sport and this earth. I want to thank Dave and Deborah Wilcox, who have offered to take over the program and promised to continue it indefinitely. This generous offer means a lot to me. We always welcome new members.***
Thanks and God bless.***

Rusty Rubin was managing editor of Ringsports.com as well as the now defunct Ringsports Magazine. He is also the author of three acclaimed boxing books! “Woozel, Boxing and Me”, “Off the Canvas” and “Billy Soose, the Champion Time Forgot” co-authored by Tom Donelson. These books are available at Authorhouse.com, and all major book retailers. They are all more than worth the purchase price.

Please allow me to recommend, two other great books, the “Arc of Boxing” by Mike Silver and “My Life among the Icons” by Johnny Ortiz.
In these hard economic times, any or all of these books will make an excellent and inexpensive presents to the boxing fan(s) in your life.
You will be glad you did!***
